Tour Plan
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International airport, you will be met by our guide after clearing customs and immigration formalities. Thereafter, drive to Arusha the nerve center of East Africa, and getaway to several national parks in the north of the country. Nestled between Mt Meru and Mt Kilimanjaro, Ngaresero Mountain Lodge is located within a lush coffee plantation with natural streams flowing through the property, from Mt Meru. The lush vegetation and the magnificent views of the snow-capped Mt Kilimanjaro and the looming Mt Meru, right in front of the lodge, is an absolutely awesome sights. This lodge is ideally located between Arusha town and Kilimanjaro International Airport, 27 km either way. Meals and overnight at Ngaresero Mountain lodge.
Today your guide will take you into Arusha National Park. Lying between the peaks of Kilimanjaro and Meru, Arusha National Park is an outstandingly beautiful area. The Park has a wide range of habitats, from the string of crater lakes where many water birds can be watched, through the highland montane forest and on up to the imposing summit of Mount Meru. Walk in the park with an armed ranger . The forests contain a wealth of birds and other animals, like the beautiful bushbuck easily glimpsed in the glades between the ancient cedar trees, or the black and white colobus monkeys climbing along their branches. The interesting geology of the area is reflected in the impressive view of the ash cone and cliff face leading to the summit of Mount Meru. You have the option of taking a picnic lunch and half a full day game viewing in the Park or you can decide to have a half day game drive and return to the lodge for lunch, afternoon at leisure. Dinner and overnight at Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge
After breakfast, drive to Tarangire National Park, the third largest national park in Tanzania. This delightful park, covering an area of 2,600 sq km was established in 1970, and it is the numerous baobab trees that will initially catch your eye. The Tarangire National Park derives its name from the Tarangire River that rises in the highlands of central Tanzania and winds its way through the game sanctuary. The river irresistibly lures the herds of plains migrants from the parched surrounding area to its shrunken – but permanent – brackish waters during the dry season. The animals come by thousands from as far north as the shores of Lake Natron, dramatically swelling the resident population with wildebeest, zebra, eland, elephant, hartebeest, buffalo and fringe-eared Oryx. Tarangire is said to have the highest recorded number of breeding bird species for any habitat in the world. As the rainless days continue the Tarangire pools are clotted with thirsty migrants, and elephants begin to dig for underground streams in the dry riverbed. .Hot lunch at Tarangire Sopa lodge Dinner and overnight at Tarangire Treetops. Located within the 85,000 acre Lolkisale Conservation Area, a private reserve bordering Tarangire National Park, Tarangire Treetops has a magical ‘never never land’ feel, appealing to those with a sense of fun. Uniquely furnished with a combination of natural and contemporary décor the 20 tree-houses provide guests with an altogether ‘different’ safari camp experience, one which includes sharing their space with other tree residents such as owls and bush babies. Perched up in the baobab and marula trees that dominate the landscape the houses each have a large private balcony affording magnificent views over the African plains and the Rift Valley wall. With an internal floor space of 65sq metres the rooms are the largest of their kind in East Africa. Encasing a vast baobab tree the spacious public areas feature a restaurant, bar, reception, swimming pool and boutique overlooking the waterhole that sees a constant flow of visitors throughout the day and night.
With the natural beauty of the scenery begging to be explored, enjoy personally guided walking safaris. You may start with the walking and then do game viewing by exploring Tarangire National Park famed for its large herds of elephant that reside there. Meals and overnight at Tarangire Treetops Luxury Tented Camp.
After breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara national Park with picnic lunches and later afternoon drive to Tloma Mountain Lodge or Gibbs Farm. This is an old colonial farmhouse, built by German settlers in the early 19th century, it is a great place to stop for a home cooked lunch that is fresh from the farm. After lunch and a short rest in you rooms tours of the coffee farm or walks through the forest of the Ngorongoro highlands can be organized
After breakfast drive to Lake Eyasi arrive at Kisima Ngeda for Lunch. Spend the afternoon at leisure and enjoy the Sundown on the rock around the Camp. The next morning join the Haadzabe people for hunting and back to the Camp for lunch, after Lunch visit the Datoga people.
After breakfast, you will drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area arriving in time for lunch at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge. You will decide if you will have afternoon at leisure. Ngorongoro Highlands with spectacular views across the Ngorongoro Crater. You will enjoy a sundowner overlooking, what is said to be the eighth wonder of the World. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers 8300 sq km, of which the renowned Ngorongoro Crate only makes up about 3% – equal to approximately 260 sq km. The conservation area also encompasses the volcanic area around the Ngorongoro Crater including the still active volcano of Oldonyio Lengai and the famous Olduvai Gorge. Its centerpiece, the Ngorongoro Crater, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world is the largest unbroken caldera in the world, and the first sight of it is truly breathtaking. The floor of the crater is home to a year round population of varied wildlife, including the almost extinct black rhino. Animal densities are high, and game viewing is excellent, with visitors after being able to get up close to the now almost habituated “wild” animals. The crater supports up to 25,000 large mammals. Grazers dominate: zebra, wildebeest – accounting for almost half the animals – gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and wart hog. Giraffe, for example, stay away because there is insufficient food at tree level; topi because they compete directly with wildebeest. An odd feature of the crater elephants is that they are almost exclusively bulls. Breeding herds – comprising large numbers of females and young with a few attendant older males – are probably unable to find sufficient quality food in the crater. Ngorongoro has carnivores in quantity, drawn by the large herds of prey animals. It has the most dense population of large predators, mainly lion – about 100 – and more than 400 spotted hyena, living in eight clans of up to eighty individuals. Both lions and hyenas will scavenge from each other, depending on weight of numbers and of course, hunger. Dinner and overnight Ngorongoro Sopa lodge
After breakfast descend the crater wall for a full day’s game drive in the crater floor. Lunch will be a picnic lunch at a site located near a hippo pool. After viewing game in the afternoon return to your lodge. Nestled onto the rim of the Crater, all in stone and wood construction and overgrown with natural vegetation, the 75 rooms of the lodge become almost unseen among the natural surroundings. They are breathtaking views of the crater from all the rooms.
Dinner & Overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge
After breakfast, drive to Empakai Crater with picnic lunches, where you will walk for about 7 hours and on the way back to the lodge you may visit the local Maasai tribe.
After breakfast you will drive back to Arusha. You will arrive in time for lunch after lunch you may wish to go for shopping before driving to Kia Lodge. A day room will be provided till evening when you will be collected and transferred to Kilimanjaro International airport for your homebound flight.
