The wildebeest  come here during the rains, December through May. They calve on the plains in February, they gallop through the woodlands, they swim across the lake Ndutu. The Ndutu Airstrip in Ndutu serves as a plus for tourists seeking to access this wildlife rich destination in the Southern Serengeti near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR NDUTU EXCLUSIVE SAFARI: After breakfast we will travel by road through the bustling safari capital of Arusha across Maasai land and via the quaint village of Mto-wa-Mbu near Lake Manyara into the scenic Ngorongoro highlands. Check in and have lunch at Ngorongoro Serena lodge situated right on the crater rim, overlooking the crater itself. The afternoon will be spent exploring the famous Ngorongoro Crater, home to a very high density of lions, some of Africa’s best black rhino viewing, spectacular elephant bulls and a wide variety of other game species including Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles, Coke’s hartebeest and golden jackals.

After breakfast descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for the morning, exploring this
beautiful area further. Return to the lodge for lunch and spend a leisurely afternoon.

Ngorongoro Serena close to Olduvai Gorge, “the cradle of mankind”, the stunning Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge has been built around the theme of prehistoric life. Constructed into the crater rim in stone, the walls and terraces are skillfully set to match the existing contours of the site. All the rooms are en suite and overlook the Ngorongoro Crater.

After breakfast drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Olduvai Gorge archaeological site. At Olduvai palaeo-anthropological diggings and discoveries have taken place over many years, by, among others, the famous husband-and-wife team of Louis and Mary Leakey. After leaving Olduvai we will soon be passing through multitudes of wildebeest en route to the renowned Ndutu Lodge, Tanzania, ideally situated under classic umbrella-thorn acacias in the heart of the southern Serengeti. At this time of year Ndutu buzzes with international photographers and film crews, attracted by the spectacle provided by the wildebeest. Check in and enjoy lunch at Ndutu lodge. Spend the afternoon game driving in the Ndutu area.

The next 3 days will be spent exploring the grassy plains and woodlands in the area, tracking the massed herds of wildebeest and zebra, watching the birth of new calves if we’re lucky, and seeking predators such as lion, cheetah and hyena on the hunt. The area also teems with other wildlife, including elephants, eland, various gazelle species, Kirk’s dik-dik, giraffe and, if we’re lucky, the elusive leopard.

Ndutu Safari lodge is situated within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area on the south-eastern part of the Serengeti ecosystem, conveniently close to Serengeti National Park. Herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle pass through the area during the rainy season, together with a variety of resident animals and birds that may be seen throughout the year. The lodge is neatly nestled in the giant acacias overlooking Lake Ndutu.

After breakfast transfer to Ndutu airstrip fly back to Kilimanjaro International Airport day use rooms will be provided and later in the evening transferred back to the Airport for you onward flights.
