Brenda H2024-03-09EWA knows how to make each trip feel like a trip of a lifetime. We just returned from a 3-week photo safari and cultural experience with EWA that was organized by our friend who has been on 12 previous trips with Brian and his fantastic company. We wouldn’t make a single change to the itinerary that was organized for us. The quality and variety of lodges and tent camps that we stayed in never disappointed, and the mixture of cultural experiences with indigenous peoples along with the mind-boggling amount of wildlife left us feeling like we truly experienced Tanzania to the fullest. Brian and his guides have an encyclopedic knowledge of the animals, birds, land, culture, and history of the country they love. They fine-tuned their daily plan according to where animals were most likely to be found, based on their experience as well as communication among their peers. Since Covid ended, there has been a boom in tourism business in Tanzania. You will have millions of choices to make, and we definitely recommend EWA. EWA owns vehicles and sets up their own seasonal camp that includes spacious wall tents, complete with toilets and showers, as well as a larger dining tent separate from the cook tent. Their chef and camp staff go the extra mile, and their camaraderie is a joy to behold. They work as a solid team to make sure every client is happy throughout the day and evening. We will be forever grateful to our friend who connected us to EWA and Brian. Three weeks was perfect for our group, but the length and variety of trips can be planned to meet your needs. We have absolutely no hesitation recommending Ecological Wilderness Adventures to anyone wishing to experience and explore Tanzania.Hhandker2024-02-11Trust Ecological Adventures for your safari. This was the second safari we have been on with EA….the first being in 2008. Brian Mengoriki and his staff know the land, the animals, birds, flora and the relationship between. And this knowledge is used to give an excellent trip. Our safaris with them were a blend of luxury camps and mobile tented camps…blended together and each suited for the local environment. This is a family business that you can TRUST to give you a memorable safari that you will want to repeat….we did.nanra2023-10-16Ecological Wilderness Adventures is Excellent My recent 3-week Tanzanian safari with EWA was top-notch. The owner, Brian, was excellent with pre-trip communications and smooth logistics. From airport transfers to clean, safe and comfortable lodgings (cottages, hotels and tent camps) to tasty meals in remote areas. His guides readily shared their strong natural history expertise and animal tracking and sighting prowess (and their humor). The entire crew was professional, courteous, and helpful. Whenever there was a need, one of EWA’s caring staff was there to assist. Add to that --- it is Tanzanian-owned! I most highly recommend Ecological Wilderness Adventures.Jean C2023-10-16Visiting less visited parks in Tanzania I recently took a 3-week Tanzania safari with Ecological Wilderness Adventures with an emphasis on photography. We went to four national parks: Arusha, Mkomazi, Ruaha, and Mahale Mountain. We were able to observe and photograph many species of wildlife and birds. Arusha NP is small, but animals are well habituated so close views were possible especially giraffe, baboon, and blue monkey. EWA arranged for us to meet with park service managers and hear about wild dog and black rhino re-population efforts in Mkomazi, which is a relatively new park. Mahale Mountain provided close encounters with chimpanzees. Some walking and rock hopping is required, but it was generally not too strenuous. We were able to spend time observing young chimps playing and interacting with the troop from close vantage points. Rhuaha is a remote park with few visitors. We observed many species of antelope, elephants, zebra, giraffe, and sleeping lions. EWA employees were all friendly and helpful. The guides and primary staff spoke english well. They worked hard to give us a good experience. The lodging was comfortable; we stayed in a tent camp and park service bandas. The food was plentiful, healthy, and generally very good. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Delicious cream soups with fresh bread were the first course every night. The guides were knowledgeable about the wildlife and bird life of the parks, both where to find them and the natural history of the species. EWA is a locally owned company and prides itself on providing employment for local Tanzanians. I strongly recommend contacting EWA if you are considering a safari in Tanzania.SueBee5452023-09-06A five star experience Ecological Wilderness Adventures is a 5 star company! On a recent safari I took with them in Tanzania, I found them to be incredibly organized. They attended to every detail. All the employees were friendly, polite, respectful and knowledgeable. They all worked hard to give us the best possible experience on our safari. Special attention was given to make certain we had knowledge and experience with all conservation efforts -and in particular the efforts with Wild Dogs, Black Rhino and Chimpanzees. The food was delicious and carefully prepared. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. I especially liked the tent camp where we were surrounded with the wonderful night sounds. Safety was always attened to by having a night guard present. Vehicles were clean and well maintained. Our drivers had a deep knowledge and appreciatoin about the birds and wildlife and readily shared their information with us. Another plus is that this is a Tanzanian owned company. The owner has worked exptremely hard and continues to do so to make this a top notch company. His employees have been with him a long time. You are booking with one of the best when you book with Ecological Wilderness Adventures.Richard S2023-07-12Ecological Wilderness Associates: First Class Trip I spent 3 weeks with EWA on a group trip to the 4 northern parks, NgoroNgoro, Ndutu, and Lake Eyasi. It was the trip of a lifetime. We saw all the big game and most of the medium sized mammal species expected for that season, plus innumerable bird species. We stayed in a mixture of formal tent and hard-sided lodges, and the tent camps set up by EWA. The EWA staff were great! Our guides/drivers were extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and culture of the areas we visited, and all 3 had a great sense of humor. I would go with them again in a heartbeat.Beth Muir2023-03-16Fantastic experience We spent 2-1/2 weeks with Brian and two other wonderful guides. He made sure we saw as much amazing wildlife and country as possible in the time we had. We were comfortable at EWA camps and other camps and lodges we stayed at, including excellent food and camp staff. There were 11 in our group and EWA had to deal with a range of issues, including COVID and one member of our party who broke her leg. All issues were handled calmly and professionally. We highly recommend Brian and EWA.Janeen2020-03-26Amazingly Outstanding Wildlife Safari! A zebra standing up for the first time! A cheetah successfully taking down a wildebeest! Lions mating! A wildebeest giving birth! A pack of wild dogs! YES, we saw this and MORE on our 3-week Tanzanian safari with Ecological Wilderness Adventures. I have dreamed of going on a safari with Brian and his guides since hearing of a friend’s adventures 5 years ago. This experience did not disappoint. Not only did we see all of the aforementioned events, we saw all of the main African animals and more birds than I can begin to list here (but I will name drop – Secretary Bird!). We viewed all of this from the comfort of 4 jeeps for our group of 14 (mostly biologists and teachers united in our interest in wildlife and birds). We had room for our day packs as well as room to move around to get the best photographic angle. Brian and his guides (Fredy, Amir, and Sammy) knew where they were going, what they were looking for, how to find the wildlife, AND how to get us into the best location to see the action. They knew animal behavior well enough to get us to the right place at the right time. After our eventful days in the field, we returned to excellent lodging and wonderful food. My favorite accommodations were the mobile tents set up just for our group by Ecological Wilderness Adventures. All of the comforts were provided for us by friendly and competent staff and we were close to all of the action, hearing hyena and lions in the night. Additionally, we got to go on cultural tours with the Maasai, the Wadatoga, and the Hadzabe people and did a cultural walk of Mto wa Mbu. It was a nice blend of culture and wildlife all professionally managed. We visited the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Eyasi, Lake Manyara, and Ndutu. Oh wait! Did I mention Mountain Gorillas?? Brian arranged a trip extension to Uganda to see visit the gorillas for the end of our safari. All details of our trip to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park were prepared beautifully for us and we had 2 successful days of gorilla trekking. If you are looking at a safari in Tanzania you have a plethora of companies to choose from. Some may be cheaper than Ecological Wilderness Adventures, but they will not provide the level of success that EWA will. EWA did not rush us around nor limit our time viewing. When we were ready to move on, we moved on. Our 6-passenger jeep had 4 people in it (not 7 as some companies do). We got to spend quality time with this quality company and we truly had the experience of a lifetime. I hope it isn’t my last experience with Ecological Wilderness Adventures – I covet another experience of a lifetime with them! You will NOT regret selecting Ecological Wilderness Adventures.Mary S2020-03-16"Up Close and Personal" is right! Trip of a liftetime! This was our second fantastic safari with Brian Mengoriki and Ecological Wilderness Adventures in Tanzania and Uganda. We thought our first 2 week safari in 2007 could not be beat, but our 3 week 2020 safari blew our minds! We had exceptional wildlife encounters in Tarangire, Lake Manyara, Lake Eyasi, Ngorongoro Crater, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Serengeti and gorilla trekking in Bwindi, Uganda. Brian and his guides Amir Shabani, Fred Kissay and Sammy Sikombe were knowledgeable, highly experienced and skilled spotters and educators. Our group consisted of biologists, teachers and wildlife guides who were interested in birds, mammals, and reptiles, the ecology and culture of Africa as a whole. The service at EWA and other tented camps was excellent. We appreciated staying close to the parks so we could get to the action at first light. Brian arranged for a gorilla trekking expedition to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda for two days of amazing, intimate encounters with mountain gorillas. When on safari, you will see other companies racing around the savannah with jam-packed vehicles of guests who have very brief sightings of some wildlife. With EWA, you have in depth, intimate encounters with trained guides who care about the welfare of the wildlife and the long-term health of the ecosystem. You will have the experience of a lifetime.Enda P2020-02-15Top company. Top Guide. My fiancee and I had an amazing safair experience with Ecological Wilderness Adventures, and in particular, with our guide Fredy. We had to change our itinerary at the last minute due to a cancellation of our flight, and Ecological sorted everything out for us at no additional cost. They rescheduled everything and made the new bookings as required. Such a great service. Also, the vehicle that they provided was second to none. The Toyota Land Cruiser was modern, well-equipped and comfortable... just perfect. But best of all was our guide, Fredy. I can't recommend Fredy highly enough. He is very customer focussed and will do everything humanly possible to help you see the things you want to see. He has a super-human ability to simultaneously drive and spot animals in the distance and he will ensure you get the best sightings. God bless his eyesight and his energy! He's a great driver and fun to hang out with too. He's a mine of great information and you're guaranteed to have a great experience. Top marks for Fredy and Ecological!Tripadvisor rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 86 reviews
