Maasai Mara National Reserve

The Maasai Mara is arguably the greatest wildlife reserve on Earth. This 1,510 square kilometre extension of the Serengeti ecosystem hosts an astonishing density of predators and serves as the stage for the Great Migration's most dramatic chapter — the Mara River crossings.

Between July and October, over 1.5 million wildebeest and 300,000 zebra pour across the crocodile-infested Mara River in chaotic, heart-stopping crossings. Year-round, the Mara's open grasslands support one of the highest lion densities in Africa, alongside leopard, cheetah, elephant, and the full Big Five.
