The Lemosho Route is a scenic and challenging path to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro. This  8-day trek covers approximately 70 kilometers, offering breathtaking landscapes and diverse terrain. Starting at Londorossi Gate, you’ll venture through lush rainforests, heath and moorland zones, and alpine desert landscapes. Highlights include the Shira Plateau, Barranco Wall, and the final ascent to Uhuru Peak. Begin your Lemosho Route adventure with a drive to the Londorossi Gate. Trek through the lush rainforest, covering approximately 7 kilometers, and reach the first camp at Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree Camp).

Continue your ascent through the rainforest, gradually entering the heath and moorland zone. Trek approximately 10 kilometers and reach Shira 1 Camp, located at an elevation of around 3,505 meters.

Traverse the scenic Shira Plateau, covering approximately 8 kilometers, and ascend to Shira 2 Camp at an elevation of approximately 3,900 meters.

Trek through the rocky terrain, crossing the Lava Tower en route to Barranco Camp. Cover a distance of approximately 10 kilometers and camp at an elevation of around 3,950 meters.

Ascend the Barranco Wall, a thrilling and challenging section of the route. Trek approximately 6 kilometers and reach Karanga Camp at an elevation of around 4,035 meters.

Continue your ascent, crossing the alpine desert landscape and reaching Barafu Camp. Trek approximately 9 kilometers and camp at an elevation of approximately 4,640 meters.

Begin your summit attempt in the early hours of the morning, trekking approximately 5 kilometers to reach Stella Point. Continue for another 1.5 kilometers to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Descend back to Barafu Camp and further down to Mweka Camp, covering a distance of approximately 15 kilometers.

Descend through the lush rainforest, covering approximately 10 kilometers, and reach Mweka Gate where your Lemosho Route climbing journey concludes.
