Distance: 7.5 kilometers (4.7 miles) After a short drive from Moshi, you'll arrive at the Lemosho Gate (2,360 meters / 7,740 feet). The trek begins through lush rainforest, gradually ascending to the first camp, Forest Camp (2,650 meters / 8,694 feet).

Distance: 13 kilometers (8.1 miles) Today's trek takes you through the rainforest and then into the heath and moorland zone. You'll continue ascending to the Shira 1 Camp (3,500 meters / 11,483 feet), where you'll spend the night.

Distance: 8 kilometers (5 miles) Leaving Shira 1 Camp, the route becomes steeper as you hike towards the Shira 2 Camp (3,900 meters / 12,795 feet). Along the way, you'll have stunning views of the Shira Plateau and its surrounding peaks.

Distance: 7 kilometers (4.4 miles) Today, you'll hike across the lunar-like landscape of the Shira Plateau. The trail then joins the Machame Route, and you'll continue ascending to the Barranco Camp (3,950 meters / 12,959 feet), located in the picturesque Barranco Valley.

Distance: 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) From Barranco Camp, you'll tackle the Barranco Wall, a challenging but exhilarating section of the trek. After reaching the top of the wall, you'll descend into the Karanga Valley and then climb up to the Karanga Camp (4,200 meters / 13,780 feet).

Distance: 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) The trek today is relatively short but steep. You'll hike up to Barafu Camp (4,600 meters / 15,091 feet), the base camp for the summit attempt. This is where you'll rest and prepare for the final ascent.

Distance: 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) - round trip Summit Day! At around midnight, you'll begin the challenging ascent to the summit, Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters / 19,341 feet). The trail takes you through the rocky terrain and scree slopes. After reaching the summit, you'll descend back to Barafu Camp and then continue down to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters / 10,170 feet) for the final overnight stay.
